1987 Lucania Football Club Team



The 1987 Lucania Football Club Team became the top team in Canada that year, winning the National Championship on Winnipeg soil. After finishing 13-3-2 in the MCSL Premiere Division, the team went on to win the MSA Provinical Championship securing themselves a birth at the National Championships.

A hard fought final against New Westminster Queens Park Rangers of BC saw Kevin Methot score the game winner and team captain Steve Hooper record the clean sheet to give Lucania the 1:0 victory. This was the first National title for a team from Manitoba since the Manitoba Selects in 1970.
