What are the age requirements for becoming a referee?
The minimum age requirement to become a certified soccer referee in Manitoba is 12 years old as a Small Sided Referee.
How often do I need to renew my referee certification?
Referee certifications need to be renewed at the start of each season by completing an Indoor, and Outdoor Refresher. Click on our Registration link to register, or on our Calendar to find dates.
What is the process for upgrading my referee certification to a higher level?

What equipment do I need as a soccer referee?
Referees are required to have specific equipment, including a uniform, whistle, flags, a watch, and appropriate footwear. Please access our Referee Store if you want to purchase any equipment.
How are referees assigned to matches?
Referee assignments are typically managed through our online system. Referees can log in to view available assignments, express their availability, and receive match assignments. Please review our Referee Assigning Criteria Policy.

Can I officiate matches outside of Manitoba with my certification?
Referees certified in Manitoba may have the opportunity to officiate matches outside the province. However, it is essential to check with the relevant soccer associations and fill a form to officiate interprovincially, excepting those appointed by Canada Soccer.
