Harry Harwood, affectionately known as Mr. Soccer within the soccer community, devoted his life to the betterment of the game of soccer for the youth of Winnipeg. He began as Executive Director with the Winnipeg Minor Soccer Association in 1985, a position he held his passing in 2006.
While with WYSA, Harry established the Youth Premier division and was the founder of such tournaments as the Folklarama Tournament, and the Children's Hospital Tournament. He was a coach and convenor at St. Charles Community Club in the late 1970's, and President of the St. James Youth Soccer Association from1982 to 1986.
Under Harry's guidance, youth soccer grew from 400 outdoor teams to over 1000 with over 17,000 registered players. Harry was inducted to the Manitoba Soccer Hall of Fame in 2018.
